More beads in today

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I'm sure most of us put on a pound or two eating all the great food we seem to have this time of year. Most of it is not on the "regular" diet, but oh so good. Now things speed up to Christmas and New Year's. How time flies. So let's bead!

More beads arrived today. We got in over 20 colors of 3mm crystal cubes, and 12 new colors of 4mm bicone and cubes.  I didn't get pictures of the new beads but there are plenty of them to go around. There must be over 40 colors of most rondelle and bicone sizes. There are some new stone beads in and LOTS of metal to choose from. Prices start at $2.00 for some of the strands and all the metal packages. $2.50 a strand for round glass pearls all sizes as well as some of the crystal strands. 

November Trunk Shows!!!!!

We just received a new trunk show from a new vendor. The prices are even better on the crystal and pearls beads. I can't wait to get the camera out and shoot a few pictures to post tomorrow! 

You folks that love the big bling balls will have a lot to choose from and prices are so much better than the last ones. There is a HUGE selection of metal beads and findings that I haven't even gone through yet.

Charlottes in Now.

The new Charlottes and other cut Czech seed beads out for sale. I've worked on theses several times trying to get them marked, and finally they are ready! There are some beautiful colors in the mix. The sizes available are: 13/0 charlottes; 8/0 single cut (like a charlotte) Size 12/0 3 cuts, and peanut beads. I have just a couple of 15/0's in shades of green, the selection was slim this time. I wish I could get some time to work on my projects and figure out which ones I might want before they are gone. 

I have a class coming up soon for a Christmas ornament cover. This is my own pattern and can be changed around to make different styles. Come by and sign up this week.

October!

Right now the Fair is in town and one of our "BeadFairies" has won several ribbons for her jewelry. Therese Frank enter some of her bead work and took a blue ribbon for one and second on another as well as some other ribbons. 

 The ladies that get together have also been working on projects and teaching each other new stitches and how to use other mediums for their jewelry. 

Last night Ms. Delores taught a wire sculptured necklace to four students. This was her first class and everyone had a great time. Each person had been collection items to possibly use in their necklace/bracelet including charms, personal memorabilia, and beads. The table was covered in their selections and they proceeded to share some items with each other. Not everyone finished but the project had all of us capturing our fantasy creation in wire. 

There are several classes on the bulletin board for next month, so come in and see what interests you. They are filling up. Also give us an idea of things you would like to learn.

Shows Coming to an End SOON!

The last week has been a busy one. I spent a weekend away from the shop and focused on beading and relaxing. (Why am I so tired?) I've been working on several projects and still haven't finished any of them. The Trunk Show has had a great response and I even snatched up a few thing for myself.

Next Monday, October 1, is the last day for the big show that is at the front of the store. The seed bead show will end next week as well. I hope everyone has had a chance to stop in and look them over. For sure, someone will come in after it is gone, looking for beads that are gone.

I have also purchased some African beads in brass, recycled glass (like sea glass) and other things. Not a big selection but interesting. Also some Trade Beads that are about 50 years old, for those looking for them.

Charlottes and cuts are also in the very near future. Again, limited and they go fast.

Gotta go, clock is ticking away.

New Seed Beads

Just in! A Seed Bead show. WOW two trunk shows at the same time, what's a beader to do?

Come in and SHOP! That's what. The see beads are sure to get picked up fast. There are several colors of peanut beads and lots of colors in the 15/0, 11/0, 8/0, and 6/0. The Italian beads have some 10/0 in them. This show is for two weeks.

The Big Trunk show just started too, lots of stone beads to choose from as well as pendants, findings and metal beads.

Trunk Show has arrived and ready by Thursday!!!!

I'm just back from my vacation and now it is time to get ready for the upcoming Trunk Show. 

There are lots of new items to chose from including metal beads and findings, Pandora beads and bracelets, large variety of stone beads, crystal, Murano, Fimo, porcelain, pearls, and so much more. There is somethings for everyone so come in and "shop till you drop!" See sample pictures below.

This Week at HSB

Hello everyone, this week Cynthia will be spending some time at the shop. I am heading out of town for a short vacation with my hubby. 

There are still lots of seed beads in stock, though they are selling fast. We have also received the newest magazines and the special edition magazine for Peyote Stitch. New books are also available covering a variety of beading styles. 

I hope many of you will get a chance to drop in and visit with Cyn while I am gone. She has great ideas and loves beading as much as I do.

New Seed Beads

        Just arrived yesterday! a new supply of seed beads.


I finally got my order and am in the process of getting it onto the shelves. I ordered a lot of new colors and also replaced ones we have been out of. This is a large order, but only 6 tubes of each so plan your projects so you get enough. Lots of bright colors in this shipment. I can't wait to start an new project using some of them.


There is also a selection of craft wires that arrived. The newest Wireworking is on the shelf and both Bead and Button and Beadwork. I will be scheduling another wire wrapping class soon. This time we will be using Sterling Silver filled instead of copper. More when I get it on the calender.


Huge trunk show is still in progress, but just until the 22nd then it is GONE! Pandora beads and spaces are only $1 each. Still good selection of crystal and Murano glass as well as stone. Check the video in past post and see the what the selection looks like

Beads! Beads! Beads!

                  Beads held over for TWO MORE weeks!!!

I thought I would be closing the show down today but, after several folks wished it could be longer, I managed to do so. The beads will be for sale through the 22nd of the month so come on back and shop. There's still lots of crystal, Murano, Pandora, stone, pendants and much more! Like I posted before this is a really big one and lots of price levels from $3.00 up. Closeout strands are only $6.00.

Cynthia is also planning some more classes to be announce soon, so keep checking and watch your emails.

Well the seed bead show is finally done. It was a good show and I have a few of the tubes put in my stash for future projects. Quite a number of the seed beaders stopped by the last two weeks to stock up. 


Now I am preparing for the Silversmithing Class,  David Smith is coming to teach. I have had several people ask for a class that includes soldering and metal working. Finally it is going to happen. I am really looking forward to learning all the techniques of designing a pendant with silver and gemstones. Don't know when we will get a chance to do this class again, we were just fortunate to have this opportunity now.


I am heading out of town after the class for a few days. Cynthia will be back at the store so be sure to drop in and see her. It has been awhile since she has been able to come in and I think she would love to see her beading friends. When I return later in the week, I will be setting up a new and beautiful Trunk Show. I will post more when I get back and hopefully a short video.

The seed beads are in and selling well. There is a great selection of sizes and shapes as well as new colors and mixed tubes. The vendor has send a nice variety of the Bella beads which are the Italian ones. The show started Friday and will end on the 10th so come in soon. I haven't been able to restock my seed beads lately so now is a chance to get some I don't have.

Announcing Silver Smithing Class in April!!!!

There has be interest in the shop hosting a Silver Smithing Workshop and now it is on our schedule! Dave Smith will be our instructor for this 12 hour class to be held over 2 days. Come learn how to make your own pendant from silver and a cabochon.

Highstrung Beads 2012

Well, a new year is started and we are entering our 10th year of business. I've lots of plans for different classes this year. One of the most exciting is a possible Silver-smithing class later this spring. When I have more information it will be posted and email sent out to my list.

I am also getting planning to offer a wire wrapping class soon. People keep asking so I will try. The classes will be small and I may need to do more than one if I get a lot of interest. It will be base metals; copper, brass. This is a beginner class.

There a a number of new items in the shop including metal beads and findings, large hoop earrings and more pearls and other beads.

Christmas is Upon Us!

Last week was a busy one at Highstrung Beads. We received a great Trunk Show which will run through the 29th of December; so come shopping after Christmas for some beautiful beads!

We also had the two day OPEN HOUSE with snacks, jewelry sales, and of course the new trunk show. There were six ladies selling their jewelry and other items, each one did different styles so there was lots to choose from. It was so much fun we may try it again around Mother's Day, it gives those non-beaders a chance to get one of the designer items and meet the artist.

I am now winding down from the holiday rush and looking forward to my own short vacation with family and good food.

HOLIDAY HOURS
The shop will be open through Friday, December 23rd and will re-open on Tuesday, December 27th. Gift cards are available for last minute gifts. We will also be closed Saturday, December 31st. Reopening the first Tuesday of the New Year!

OPEN HOUSE ANNOUNCEMENT

Has everyone finished their Holiday gifts? I sure haven't. I wish I had more time to work on my projects. We've had several Trunk Shows this fall with a variety of beads and other items that went well.


Now it is just time to plan for our open house at the shop. We are setting up a Holiday Open House for the 16th and 17th of this month. Regular shop hours but we will have several people selling their jewelry items. Not everyone likes to bead, hard to believe, so there will things for the non-beader and those that want to just shop. Don't miss coming in to see what is available and to pick up last minute items. Remember we all so have gift certificates available.Happy Beading.

November at Highstrung Beads

The month of November is gearing up to be a busy one. Ellen had a group in this past week and taught them a spiral bracelet she calls Twisted Sister. They had a great time choosing their beads and starting the project. It used pearls, seed beads and crystal or firepolish.

I had a vendor by and got lots of pretty pearls, the wall was looking bare. I also picked up some other items that will be great for the holidays.

Our last trunk show went pretty well; and yesterday I sent what was left back . Now we have a big seed bead show set up. If you are looking for 15/0, bugles, cubes, and other shapes come in and look through these. There are also the Italian Bella Beads. These beads are not dyed and should not fade as the colors are in the glass.

We also got some new items from another vendor. There are some sparkly balls in several colors and some pretty Pandora style beads too. I need to get that box inventoried and out tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing what she sent us.

Seed Bead TrunksShow

The new Seed Bead Trunks show is now in. The trunk show in September went so well and many requested a repeat performance, so it is now available. There are a number of new kits as well as lots of colors, sizes, and shapes to choose from. It will be here only a short time so come in soon.

This is also the last weekend for the gemstone and pearls Trunk Show, so if you are looking for these, this is the time.

We had a great class last night. The group made a Twisted Sister bracelet. I'll try to post pics later.

Highstrung Beads Shoppe

I can't believe how time is flying by. Halloween is over;Thanksgiving will soon arrive, then Christmas! It's so hard thinking about Christmas gifts and the holidays seems as though summer has just ended. I've been working on several different projects from recent issues of B&B and Beadwork. There have been some nice things in the last few issues.

The trunk show is still available through this Saturday, November 5th, after that it will be returned to California. This has been a good show with many new beads and lots of color. If you have a chance stop in this week.

Upcoming show for the seed bead folk! There was such a response to the last one we are trying it again next week. I am looking for the boxes and will post when they are in and ready. If you are looking for seed beads in lots of shapes, sizes and colors get in fast, this is a popular show.
