Charlottes in Now.

The new Charlottes and other cut Czech seed beads out for sale. I've worked on theses several times trying to get them marked, and finally they are ready! There are some beautiful colors in the mix. The sizes available are: 13/0 charlottes; 8/0 single cut (like a charlotte) Size 12/0 3 cuts, and peanut beads. I have just a couple of 15/0's in shades of green, the selection was slim this time. I wish I could get some time to work on my projects and figure out which ones I might want before they are gone. 

I have a class coming up soon for a Christmas ornament cover. This is my own pattern and can be changed around to make different styles. Come by and sign up this week.

Happy Thanksgiving

We're finally winding down to the last month of 2009. It's hard to believe another year is almost gone. It's been a hard year but, Thankfully, Highstrung Beads is still plugging along.

A vendor was in yesterday and I added a few more items to the wall and tables, come see! I also have a beader's personal collection for sale so don't miss that. There are some lovely semi-precious and pearls in the selection and they are going quickly. The beads have been collected over the years and include some unusual ones.

We are also expecting a special trunk show in the next week. It is from a different vendor than last time so there will be new items in. Will notify everyone when it arrives.

I am still offering classes and love having a group when possible, but will still do one-on-one. If you don't have time for an in-depth stringing class but want to make a necklace; come on in and we will help you with the finishing for a small fee. There are plenty of magazines available for inspiration and they all have a glossary of the basics.

Highstrung Beads will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, it will re-open on Friday at 12:00 noon. I will also be open regular hours on Saturday. Come in and get more ideas for those personal gift ideas.

I can't believe one quarter of 2009 is already gone. It has been busy lately at Highstrung Beads. We had a Trunk Show from the end of March through April 11th that was really good. I hope to bring in another in the next few months. It's nice to have a new selection of beads and other items from time to time.

Several people have been in to learn various beading techniques recently. I enjoy teaching one on one or several students. Plans for Stress Relief night during the summer months is in the plans for those beaders that want to meet others, learn new things about beading and just have a good time. More information on this in upcoming days. Any ideas? Please comment or share with me.

All the new Australian Magazines are in as well as a new one from England. This is just a trial to see if folks like it. New findings in copper and various other metals are stocked too.

Coming March 27th

Trunk Show
Starting this Friday there will be a new trunk show. There will be a variety of gemstone, pearls, cabachons and pendants, resin, fiber, and other beads as well as metal findings and beads. Prices range from $4.00 up. The show will run through the first weekend in April, but be sure to stop in soon for the best selection.

I will be in the shop Wednesday before Thanksgiving and back on Friday. Hope you will find time to come in and shop during Black Friday. There is a small trunk show still avaiable and lots of new stones and other items throughout the shop. The newest Beadwork magazine arrived yesterday and I have copies of the Step-by-Step Wire available too.

I am looking forward to good eating and some rest on Thanksgiving Day. Hope everyone has a fabulous feast as well.

Upcoming Events

Highstrung Beads will again be hosting a Trunk Show, no, make that two consecutive shows! Some of the beads are already on their way and will be available soon. I will post when they are. There will be a wide range of prices and selection. We are expecting pendants, metal, glass, stone and findings. Think about your gifts and holiday jewelry and come shopping. One will cover about a month and the other two weeks so everyone will have a chance to shop. Come early for the best selections.

October updates

I can't believe we are halfway through October. Where has the year gone? Now folks are beginning to think about the holidays and gifts. With the economy like it is we are turning to more creative ideas for gifts for friends and family. Try your hand at jewelry. Take a class if you've never tried it or come in and look at the samples of projects available or through the books and magazines. There are several different Australian and Canadian periodicals available as well as the Beadwork and Bead & Button offerings.

Highstrung Beads just completed a trunk show and sale this week. Trunk shows give bead lovers a chance to see and buy beads I don't carry and what may be new on the beading scene. I am planning another one from a different supplier in a few weeks. That will be announced when I have the dates. It will go for a couple of weeks so everyone can get in and look through the selection. There will be more than gemstone, it will include metal beads, findings, pendants and much more!

If you want to learn to string a necklace, make earrings, or make items using off loom weaveing techniques, don't hesitate to call or come in. There is so much you can do with beads!

New Magazines!!!!

I now have the newest Austrailian Beading magazines in stock! I had quit carring them for a while, but customer requests made me try again. There are three different ones presently available. I got a limited number so check in soon if you are interested.
