Hi all,

Well, Thanksgiving is over and we are heading into the real Christmas rush. There are new gemstones in the shop and a limited selection of Charlottes for those seed bead fanatics. I managed to get some in the standard 13/o as well as 15/o's, 11/o's and 8/o's. These are great for beading around cabs and riviolis. There are some of them in the case too.

Happy Thanksgiving

I will be in the shop Wednesday before Thanksgiving and back on Friday. Hope you will find time to come in and shop during Black Friday. There is a small trunk show still avaiable and lots of new stones and other items throughout the shop. The newest Beadwork magazine arrived yesterday and I have copies of the Step-by-Step Wire available too.

I am looking forward to good eating and some rest on Thanksgiving Day. Hope everyone has a fabulous feast as well.

New Semi-precious now in

A new shipment of semi-precious in now in for the Holidays! One of my vendors was just by and I spent too much again! I also got some pendants and other beads. Findings and other items are now available too. Come in today,check out the selection and get started on your gifts, times awasting!

I was really excited to find out that one of my customers got some great awards at the Fair! I will post pictures later today. Several other people have entered and won in the past and I hope some of you will start thinking about entering some of your work too. Don't forget the magazines either, they have pages that show work from their readers.

November at Highstrung Beads

Lots of new things are in at the shop. The holidays are getting closer and folks are beginning their projects for gifts and party wear. I now have a selection of nice sterling and gold plated chains as well as a few sterling chain choices. The little santas, snowmen, and candycane beads are aavailable too.

The Trunk Shows have been going well and there are still a few more days for the big one. If you haven't been in there is still a good selection of stone and $4:00 strands. I have really been happy with this show and will try to have one again in a couple of months.

New things are coming in and will be out as soon as possible!

TRUNK SHOW

All the beads are now out!!

THere is a great selection of stone in a variety of colors, sizes, and cuts. Cabs and Pendants from stone are also available. I am very pleased with the beads and other items, many prices at $4.00 a strand. Come in between now and November 17th.

TRUNK SHOW

The TRUNK SHOW beads have begun to arrive! There is so much to choose from in just the small amount that has come in. The selection will include: mixed stone strands; glass pearls; murano style glass beads; pendants; findings, and 8" strands of metal beads. Many of these items have not arrived yet but if the first ones are this nice, it can only get better!

Remember that this one will run through the 17 of November. It starts the end of this week. That is two weeks to make time to come and select new things for the holidays!

I will also have another arriving during this time that will include some things from China. I'm not sure of the variety, but she sends a good range of inexpensive items.

Upcoming Events

Highstrung Beads will again be hosting a Trunk Show, no, make that two consecutive shows! Some of the beads are already on their way and will be available soon. I will post when they are. There will be a wide range of prices and selection. We are expecting pendants, metal, glass, stone and findings. Think about your gifts and holiday jewelry and come shopping. One will cover about a month and the other two weeks so everyone will have a chance to shop. Come early for the best selections.

October updates

I can't believe we are halfway through October. Where has the year gone? Now folks are beginning to think about the holidays and gifts. With the economy like it is we are turning to more creative ideas for gifts for friends and family. Try your hand at jewelry. Take a class if you've never tried it or come in and look at the samples of projects available or through the books and magazines. There are several different Australian and Canadian periodicals available as well as the Beadwork and Bead & Button offerings.

Highstrung Beads just completed a trunk show and sale this week. Trunk shows give bead lovers a chance to see and buy beads I don't carry and what may be new on the beading scene. I am planning another one from a different supplier in a few weeks. That will be announced when I have the dates. It will go for a couple of weeks so everyone can get in and look through the selection. There will be more than gemstone, it will include metal beads, findings, pendants and much more!

If you want to learn to string a necklace, make earrings, or make items using off loom weaveing techniques, don't hesitate to call or come in. There is so much you can do with beads!

New Magazines!!!!

I now have the newest Austrailian Beading magazines in stock! I had quit carring them for a while, but customer requests made me try again. There are three different ones presently available. I got a limited number so check in soon if you are interested.

I also have Bead and Button, Bead Style, and Beadwork at cover price. Lots of new projects for the fall and winter are inside. If you don't subscribe come in and get one today!

September Updates

School is back in session and summer is over. Hard to believe. Where did AUGUST go?
My family has had a busy summer, just not much vacation.

September classes are forming at Highstrung Beads Shoppe including:

Christmas Ornament Covers/also known as BALL GOWNS.

Classes using various patterns will be held:
September 11th at 5:00pm Fee: $20.00 includes pattern of your choice
If you can't be in by five but just a little bit late you could still take this class.
September 22nd at 1:00 pm Fee: $20.00 includes pattern

Ndebele Beginners
This is a seed bead class. (the small beads)

Thursday September 25th will start at 4:00pm Fee: $20 plus materials
If you still want the class but cant come until 5pm let me know arrangements can be made.

Autumn Begins September 22nd!

Upcoming Classes - New Beads

I have been considering several classes for the upcoming weeks. A class on Christmas ornament covers has been requested several times so that is on the schedule. We will use one of Carol Lampole's patterns for the project. The class price will include a copy of the pattern.

There are several class discriptions up on the board at the shop. Stop in and sign up today. The holidays are coming and this is a great way to make special gifts for those on your list.

A new group of Czech glass has been hung on the wall. Lots of pretty colors for late summer and fall. Also in are some new findings, fireline and other new items. Come in while there is a good selection!

Beaded Bezel Class

August 14th - 5pm -7pm
Seen the new beading magazines with the beaded crystals or have a cab you want to try beading around? Come take this little class. Knowledge of peyote stitch is helpful. We will be using size 11/o seeds and 15/o seeds. These are the little, tiny ones. Call for further info or to sign up.

August Update

Here it is August already! July flew by and now it is time to start thinking about school. It seems as though the schools just let out and now they are announcing the return to classes. Speaking of classes, there are several on the calendar for this month at Highstrung Beads.

We are offering a couple of classes for the beautiful Christmas ball covers, sometimes called Ballgowns. There will be both day and evening times for interested students. Bring a friend and start on your first one, they make great gifts!

I will also offer a few classes in beading around Cabachons and rivolis as there has been some request for those. They make beautiful pendants and earrings can be done with smaller cabs and flatback crystals.

There are also peyote, RAW, and other off-loom stitch classes available on request. Call now or come in to schedule you next class. I have lots of daytime availablily and, of course, Thursday night is the late night at the store. There are lots of new seed beads to choose from too.

New Seed Beads

New size 15/o seed beads arrived yesterday! We have 6 new colors including a shiny gold and shiny silver. There are two new colors of size 8/o triangles one is gunmetal color. We restocked in shiny black and brown colors(401 and 134) in size 8/0 and add two new colors as well.

I have also gotten in sterling knot covers (clamshells), size 4mm crimp covers. There are copper and gold plate crimp covers in as well as 3inch copper headpins.

NEW BEADS

Vendors have been by and I have a limited selection of vintage crystal riviolis, some new pearl sizes and colors, semi-precious, and lots more. Come in while the selection is good! We will be putting our Czech glass on special the rest of this week as well.

Class Schedule for July

There are several classes on the calender for July. I have samples and info posted in the store. A brief list is below.

New Magazines- Beadwork, Bead and Button and the special issue or RIGHT ANGLE Weave. There is also the new Canadian Beading Magazine in as well.

The shop will be open until 7:00 pm on July 3rd and reopen on Saturday the 5th. We will be open on the 3rd until 7:00pm and reopen on Saturday the 5th at 10:00 am. Celebrate and stay safe!

Highstrung Beads New Location

Highstrung Beads has been at 51 Mitchell Ave. Montgomery, AL for almost two months now. This location is much easier to find, better access without the traffic at the old location. We are bigger and better. Look for the sign at the street, I used it on the blog page too. We are really enjoying the brighter, more open space and the great workshop area. Come visit soon and see for yourself!
