It's Spring?

I think so, as the azaleas and other spring flowers and trees are blooming now. Our winter was so mild this year that maybe Spring is here. I've enjoyed most of it except the sneezing from all the tree pollen. I'm planning a few things over the next couple of months. There will be a new seed bead trunk show arriving the last weekend of March. Beadweavers, (ie: loom, peyote, and other stitches) make a note as there will be new colors in both the Japanese and Italian beads. I am looking forward to seeing the new collection myself. She usually sends 15/o, 11/o, 8/0 and 6/o as well as different shapes.

I am also arranging for a bead trunk show soon. Many of you out there keep asking when is the next one. I will post it out when I have the dates. 

Also, those that are still interested in the silversmithing class and are not signed up need to make their decisions as it is beginning to fill up. I am really excited about this one. I've been wanting to learn how to solder and work with silver. Check it out here if you haven't already:

New for February!


Here is a short slide show of the new trunk show beads. I received some more yesterday but haven't photographed them. There are 4mm pearls, glass beads, and some of the "made with love" charms too.

Upcoming Wirewrapping Class

I am offering a beginner class in wire wrapping on The 18th of February. We will be making a wrapped pendant using either copper or brass. The class fee will include a kit of materials.

The fee for the class is: $45.00 to be paid prior to class.
The class will be held: Saturday, February 18th from 11:00 to 2:00pm
If you have tools please bring them.

Announcing Silver Smithing Class in April!!!!

There has be interest in the shop hosting a Silver Smithing Workshop and now it is on our schedule! Dave Smith will be our instructor for this 12 hour class to be held over 2 days. Come learn how to make your own pendant from silver and a cabochon.

Highstrung Beads 2012

Well, a new year is started and we are entering our 10th year of business. I've lots of plans for different classes this year. One of the most exciting is a possible Silver-smithing class later this spring. When I have more information it will be posted and email sent out to my list.

I am also getting planning to offer a wire wrapping class soon. People keep asking so I will try. The classes will be small and I may need to do more than one if I get a lot of interest. It will be base metals; copper, brass. This is a beginner class.

There a a number of new items in the shop including metal beads and findings, large hoop earrings and more pearls and other beads.

Christmas is Upon Us!

Last week was a busy one at Highstrung Beads. We received a great Trunk Show which will run through the 29th of December; so come shopping after Christmas for some beautiful beads!

We also had the two day OPEN HOUSE with snacks, jewelry sales, and of course the new trunk show. There were six ladies selling their jewelry and other items, each one did different styles so there was lots to choose from. It was so much fun we may try it again around Mother's Day, it gives those non-beaders a chance to get one of the designer items and meet the artist.

I am now winding down from the holiday rush and looking forward to my own short vacation with family and good food.

HOLIDAY HOURS
The shop will be open through Friday, December 23rd and will re-open on Tuesday, December 27th. Gift cards are available for last minute gifts. We will also be closed Saturday, December 31st. Reopening the first Tuesday of the New Year!
